For years I have developed a filmmaking practice in which cinema becomes a real space for learning, responsibility and professional experience. I work with people with little or no previous experience — complete beginners, students, people with physical or psychological disabilities, and people facing social or personal difficulties — guiding them through an actual filmmaking process.

The aim is not to simulate filmmaking, but to do it for real: to learn a craft, take responsibility for a role, work within a crew, and build confidence, independence and experience through the production of completed works made to professional standards and intended for real audiences.

The people involved conceive, develop and make their own audiovisual work. They may work in front of the camera as actors or performers, or behind it as part of the crew, taking on real creative, technical and organisational roles. The process does not end with a workshop: it continues through to the finished film, distribution, screenings and an encounter with an audience.

This approach also shapes my work as a teacher and mentor. With academy students and first-time filmmakers, I have developed projects that reached distribution on Amazon and other platforms, as well as festivals, screenings and public events. Over the years, together with them, I have created and supervised more than 100 short films, 4 series, 2 feature films and many other audiovisual projects.

The same method has shaped collaborations with associations and nonprofit organisations, including AIPD — Associazione Italiana Persone Down, creating projects in which participants are not simply involved, but become genuine authors and makers of their own work.

Among the most recent experiences, the collaboration with the Santo Rullo community has led to CRAZY FOR FESTIVAL, the documentary LA CASA, currently in post-production, and the development of the narrative feature LA FUGA.

For me, cinema can build skills, confidence and real experience. But for that to happen, it has to remain real filmmaking: real roles, real responsibility, finished works, distribution and audiences.
